There are lots of great job fairs going on this month in South Carolina, North Carolina and Georgia. There are two very important job fairs happening this week in Anderson County, SC.
The OneStop Workforce Center and Anderson School District 2 will host a Job Fair at Watkins Community Center in Honea Path on Thursday, February 10, 2011, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event will feature area businesses, employment workshops, door prizes, employment referrals, a computer lab for online applications, and access to other services.
The Job Fair is open to the public without charge, and job seekers should come dressed for success and bring copies of their résumés. Featured workshops at the job fair will be “Preparing Your Résumé” at 11 a.m. and “Selling Yourself- Interviewing Skills” at 1 p.m.
In addition, an administrator for The Benefit Bank and volunteers will be onsite to help job seekers register for the web-based service that simplifies and centralizes the process of applying for many state and federal benefits. A counselor fills out one generic application that can determine a family’s potential eligibility for food stamps, Medicaid and other benefits. Trained counselors can also help families fill out their tax forms or apply for federal student aid.
